Turkey Withdraws Crypto Tax Provisions Amid Opposition Backlash
Turkish lawmakers have scrapped proposed cryptocurrency tax measures following significant pushback from opposition parties and industry stakeholders. The provisions, which would have imposed a 0.3% transaction levy and 10% capital gains tax on digital asset trades, were removed from an omnibus economic bill during last-minute negotiations.
The ruling AK Party had inserted the controversial clauses into broader legislation covering fiscal policy and defense spending. Their deletion marks a temporary victory for Turkey's crypto community, though party representatives hinted at possible future reintroduction of similar measures.
